Artist's Description
The is a watercolor painted from the perspective of a picnic area at the top of Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Park. It is a part of the Olympic Mountains which are a segment of the Pacific mountain system of western North America. They extend across the Olympic Peninsula south of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and west of Puget Sound in northwestern Washington State.
Several peaks exceed 7,000 feet, including Mounts Anderson, Deception, and Olympus, the last of which, at 7,965 feet, is the highest. The range holds about 60 glaciers. The prevailing westerly wind off the Pacific Ocean produces heavy annual precipitation (more than 160 inches in places) on the western slopes, resulting in the formation of picturesque rainforests dominated by Douglas Fir, Sitka spruce, western red cedar, bigleaf maple, and western hemlock. Some trees reach heights of 300 feet and diameters of more than 7 feet. The eastern slopes receive much less precipitation and are less thickly forested.

About Julie Senf
Imagination & Creativity see what can be from what there is! So much detail and emotion can be portrayed on a piece of paper by the use of a simple pencil...adding color makes it absolutely magical! It was when I became an "empty nester" that I discovered the time to enter the creative side of my brain and let it emerge. It has been a wonderful time of discovery and with the encouragement of family and friends I have ventured out to share my art with others. I find great joy when someone connects with and enjoys one of my art pieces. Follow me on Facebook and to follow my latest projects in the works Julie Senf Art
